Dear Visitor
We have been working tirelessly to make our beautiful Open Air Pool as ‘Green’ and environmentally friendly as possible – hence the removal of throw away cups and dishes, which take an inordinate amount of time, energy and money to be made, recycled and disposed of. We are now going to trial a new approach to rubbish – brought about by the huge amounts that we have to dispose of.
Even though we are a charity, we are treated as a business and so, if a nappy is found in our general rubbish, we could be fined up to £5000. And even though we have Nappy Bins and many, many signs, people put soiled nappies and food into our recycling bins.
In order to meet our self-imposed recycling targets, someone has to go through all of the bins on site and redistribute the rubbish into the right bins. That’s not a very nice job to ask anyone to do.
So, we are going to accept all the rubbish at the Tuck Shop from food and drinks that we sell, but we will ask our swimmers to take home any rubbish resulting from food and drinks that they bring in themselves.
We love seeing people having fun and picnicking but please can we ask for your support in this?
