Cirencester Open Air Pool Facilities
Please arrive ready to swim
In the interests of Covid-19 safety for all our visitors, lifeguards and volunteer helpers, we ask that you and any members of your group arrive at the pool in your swimming costumes.
The changing rooms will be available for you to change into dry clothing before your leave. However, it would help us greatly if you help us minimise any risks by using the changing rooms as little as possible.
We will not be supplying any swimming aids or toys this year
We also suggest that you bring a waterproof bag in which to store your dry clothes in case of rain while you are at the pool.
Thank you for your cooperation
We have changing rooms on site with hot showers (you will need a 20p coin) and baby change facilities. There are also small lockers for your clothes. Please leave outdoor shoes outside of the changing rooms.
We have a Children's play pool which open during family sessions, Family, General and 'Drop in' Sessions. The children's pool is heated to the same temperature as the main pool (around 27°C).
The main pool is 27.5 metres long
We aim to keep the pool water temperature at around 27°C. Water is drawn from a natural spring well and heated by a heat exchanger, which is like a reverse radiator. The pool water passes through a tube which is contains small pipes filled with hot water from the heating boiler and draws the heat from it. Chemicals are added to the water to remove any bacteria in line with government and Swim England guidelines.
The pool takes 375 cubic metres or 82,500 gallons of water taking 3 days to fill at the start of the season.
The children's play pool uses the same methods for heating and cleansing.
