Almost ready to go… Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool will be opening to the public for our Summer Season on Thursday 20th May, with a Season Ticket Holder day on Wednesday 19th May. We can’t wait to welcome you along to our wonderful facility!
As you know the pool is run by volunteers and we have done all we can to provide the best experience for you within the guidelines we have been given. In total, across the week, we are providing 1900 swimming sessions... we think you’ll agree that’s rather good.
How do I book?
Like most places at the moment, you will need to book your swim sessions ahead, there is currently no facility to just turn up and pay. Pop over to our website at www.cirenopenair.org.uk/swim - it’s all self-explanatory, booking opens 8 days in advance of each session. Going by last year’s experience, some sessions will be in high demand so you may need to keep trying and it may not be possible to get the exact time you want.
We’ve used last year’s feedback to make some changes - only season ticket holders need to log in to their account (so that you can access season ticket slots), everyone else can use the site for booking without logging in. All bookings are on a ‘first come first served' basis. There is no preferential booking so you have as good a chance as anyone else. Payment can be made by PayPal and all major credit and debit cards, apart from American Express. Please note that no refunds will be given so check you can come along at the booked time before committing to booking and payment.
How long are the sessions?
All individual swim sessions are 1 hour long, Family sessions 1.5 hours long all with timed entry, The timings are based on feedback we had last season from visitors and seems to satisfy most people.
Fitness swims are all lanes, General swims have at least one lane while Family swims do not have any lanes in operation.
Our lifeguards are very approachable and accommodating so chat to them if you have any concerns and they’ll do their best to help.
Anything else I need to know?
It’s still COVID times, so minimising time in changing rooms as well as hands, face, space etc all apply as you would expect - there will be volunteers on hand to help and advise you. Coming swim ready helps though changing rooms will be open.
Our Tuck Shop will be open for you to use during your swim session or to take snacks with you at the end of your swim.
We will be asking you to leave the pool at the end of your swim slot so we can keep the pool running within the guidelines we have been given.
There’s a growing FAQ page on the website so check there for further information.
Does the pool need any help before opening?
Yes please… if you can spare any plants for our planters, we’d be very grateful to receive donations at the back gate of the pool (the one from Cecily Hill Barracks Car Park) on Saturday 8th May between 10 and 12 in the morning.
A big shout out…
To the fantastic volunteer group that ensures we all have this community facility - it comes together from people giving their time and talents and I’m sure you will join me in thanking them for another odd year navigated:)
