Large Capital Projects

Cirencester Volunteers socialising

We are extremely grateful to our swimmers, volunteers, sponsors and donors who, over the years, have generously given their time.

Over the past 42 years, a number of major projects have been undertaken – all funded by donations, gifts, sponsorships and grants. The Winstone Trust made the new changing rooms possible through their support from 2014-2017 while a host of local companies helped us buy a mobile hoist and changing table in 2022. The following year, our trustees crowdfunded the installation of solar panels, with local individuals generously giving over £7,000 which the council boosted with an injection of £4,000.

This generosity is a testament to the enduring love our community has for Cirencester’s Open Air Swimming Pool, a place that offered sanctuary to all during the many difficult months of lockdown. One of the few pools to remain open, once again it was our stalwart volunteers who made this possible through their rigorous cleaning regime between sessions, all for the betterment of others’ well-being.

We now have new projects to finance, namely surveying the pool’s basin and doing whatever repairs its surface requires, which could be very costly. After which, the last remaining buildings from the 1970s need to be redeveloped – all of which will need significant investment.

So, as ever, if you are in a position to donate money, help with grants and sponsorships or to gift our charity with a legacy in your will, it all goes to help keep our beautiful pool open for us all to enjoy, for years and years to come.
