Lifeguards

Cirencester Lifeguard at pool side

Safety in swimming pools is paramount which is why our lifeguards are current holders of some or all of the following Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) qualifications:

  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
  • National Pool Supervisor Qualification (NPSQ)
  • National Pool Management Qualification (NPMQ)

As the only paid members of our team, they bear the responsibility of upholding our regulations and ensuring visitors are able to enjoy their time at the pool under their watchful gaze so we value their patience, professionalism and great communication skills.

To keep their first aid knowledge up to date, every month, all our lifeguards receive mandatory RLSS instructor-led training that refreshes their rescue techniques and perfects their cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills.

As it’s a community pool, quite often lifeguarding is a family affair, with teams comprising fathers and sons or brothers and sisters working together… The experience our lifeguards garner is an excellent stepping stone to responsible jobs in all walks of life so we encourage our young swimmers to take up lifeguarding and build their skills within the positive, supportive environment we have established.
