A Memento of Summer: Exclusive Lino Print by Lifeguard and Artist Grace Russell
We’re delighted to introduce Grace Russell, a long-standing member of our lifeguarding team and a talented young artist.
Grace has created a beautiful lino print especially for the pool, as a way for customers to take home a memento of their happy times here. Proceeds from the sales will go towards supporting the charity, and we are so grateful for her generosity in making this possible. The original limited-edition prints are priced at £95 each.
It’s a truly thoughtful gift to the pool and our community. We hope you enjoy her work and feel inspired to take one home—not only as a reminder of summer at the pool, but also as a way to support the charity.
Grace has been lifeguarding for six years, and this season marks her fourth at the open-air pool. In September, she will be starting her third year at Falmouth University, where she studies Drawing. Her artistic focus is on landscapes, with a particular interest in the ancient British landscape. Etching is her primary medium, alongside painting and drawing.
This piece is a lino print created using a process called reduction. This technique involves printing from a single block of lino, gradually building up the image through layers of different colours. Because the block is cut away multiple times to achieve the final image, each print is unique and cannot be reproduced.
The open-air pool is where Grace first began lifeguarding at the age of sixteen. It has been an important part of her life both as a child and as an adult—a place where friendships have been made and lasting memories created. Within her artwork, she aims to capture the atmosphere and emotions of a place, which is why creating a piece for the pool felt so meaningful. Her intention was to translate the joy and excitement of Cirencester’s open-air swimming pool into her work. The pool is a much-loved community landmark, and she wanted to create something that would remind people of that feeling during the colder winter months when the pool is closed.
From this weekend, 20 original limited-edition lino prints, priced at £95 each, will be available at the pool—so be quick!
A huge thank you to Grace for her talent and generosity—we’re really impressed with her work and delighted she has chosen to share it with us in this special way.
