The Experience

Hot, cold and a whole lot of fresh air

Start with a swim in our 27m open air pool in Cirencester, heated to 26°C. Then warm right through in our sauna, take a cold rinse under the outdoor showers and step into the plunge pool. Finish on a sun lounger with views towards the castle, or go round again.

It’s contrast therapy, the age-old routine of moving between heat and cold, done the open air way.

How it works

Your sauna & plunge ritual

There’s no wrong way to do it, but here’s a routine our regulars swear by:

  1. Swim – loosen up with a few lengths or a gentle float.
  2. Heat – settle into the sauna for 10 to 15 minutes and let the warmth sink in.
  3. Rinse – a quick cold shower to cool down and freshen up.
  4. Plunge – lower yourself into the plunge pool, breathe slowly and stay calm. Even 30 seconds counts.
  5. Rest – warm up naturally on a lounger before your next round.

Repeat two or three times and see how you feel. Sauna places are booked alongside a swim, so you can do it all in one visit.

Why people love it

Feel the benefits of sauna and cold plunge

Hot and cold therapy has been part of wellbeing traditions from Finland to Japan for centuries, and it’s easy to see why. Many people find a sauna and cold plunge session helps them:

  • Feel energised and clear-headed
  • Relax tired or aching muscles after exercise
  • Sleep better and switch off from a busy week
  • Build resilience by learning to stay calm in the cold

It’s also brilliantly sociable. Since opening, our sauna has become a place where strangers become friends, experienced plungers share breathing tips with first-timers, and the shrieks from the plunge pool are usually followed by a lot of laughter.
